Play: Texas Rangers
Rating: 10/10*
The Texas Rangers have won just two of their last seven games and lost 6-2 here at Minute Maid Park on Monday, but I like the price we get on the Rangers Tuesday night though with left-hander Cole Hamels (2-0, 3.03 ERA) on the mound.
Hamels has won his las two starts while allowing a total of just four runs on 10 hits through 14 2/3 innings of work. He's 4-2 with a 4.23 ERA in seven starts at Houston and the Rangers are 4-0 in Hamels' last four starts vs. the Astros who hand the ball to Mike Fiers (0-1, 5.12 ERA).
Fiers has gone 0-1 with a 6.23 ERA in three games (two starts) against Texas and he's not had a great start to the season. He's really struggled with the long-ball, serving up eight homers through 19 1/3 frames, and we can note that Texas is 7th in the MLB for home runs scored this season.
Rangers are 13-3 in Hamels' last 16 starts during Game 2 of a series, Astros are 1-4 in their last five home games vs. a left-handed starter and 0-4 in their last four during Game 2 of a series. Let's go with the Rangers.
