The Seattle Mariners host the Texas Rangers at Safeco Field for the opener of a three-game set Friday night. Over is 16-5 in the last 21 meetings and 6-2 in the last eight meetings in Seattle. I think we'll see another slugfest tonight.
The Mariners are coming off an 11-3 win against the Halos. They'll hand the ball to Yovani Gallardo (1-3, 5.08 ERA) who has surrendered four runs in three of his five starts this season. Gallardo is 0-1 with a 6.00 ERA in two career starts against the Rangers who counter with Yu Darvish (3-2, 3.03 ERA). He is 0-3 with a 7.71 ERA in three starts at Safeco and the current Mariners have a combined batting average of .299 over 77 at bats against the right-hander. The Rangers have struggled at the plate lately but their bats came alive in a 10-4 win at Houston yesterday.
