The Nashville Predators outscored the Wild 6-5 Thursday to claim their fourth win in five games. Such goal-fests have been rare when the Predators have been involved this season though, and that was the first time over their last five that they allowed more than three goals. The Blue Jackets have been on a roll this month, winning eight out of nine while conceding just 18 goals. The Predators won the first meeting between these two teams by a score of 2-1, and we should expect more of the same tonight.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Goaltending - Pekka Rinne has started 28 of the Predators 31 games this season and is leading the NHL with his 21 wins. He also ranks near the top of the league with an exceptional 1.87 GAA and .933 save percentage and has played a huge part in a Predators D that ranks second in the league. Sergei Bobrovksy has started each of the Blue Jackets games this month, registering a .940 save percentage and 2.01 GAA winning all games bar an OT loss at Washington Thursday.
2. Trends - The Predators are good at keeping the score down and the game close against other winning teams. Four of their last five when facing a team with a winning percentage above .600 have gone under the total, and all of the last five meetings between these two teams have gone under as well.
3. X-Factor - Only the Sabres have a worse power play than the Predators, with Nashville converting on exactly 12% of their opportunities. The Blue Jackets have gone a perfect 12-for-12 on the penalty kill over their last four games.
Selection: This is a play on NSH@CBJ to go under the total (10*)
