The surging New York Rangers will be put to the test tonight as they're coming to California to face off with the league leading Anaheim Ducks. The visitors have won 10 of their last 11 games, but a majority of those wins have come against slumping or just flat out poor teams, and I think they'll struggle tonight when facing quality opposition on the road.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Goaltending - Henrik Lundquist is more than likely to make his sixth straight start tonight. He's not had much success against the Ducks over his last three visits to the Duckpond, going 0-2-1 behind a 3.89 GAA. Everything points to the home team giving Fredrik Andersen a seventh consecutive start. He's been dominant at home all season long, and is 7-1-0 while compiling a 2.19 GAA in his last eight in California.
2. Home Cookin' - Anaheim has started an eight game home-stand by winning three of the first four. They've won seven of their last eight in front of the home fans and are 4-1 in its last five hosting a team with a winning road record. This should be a bad match-up for the Rangers as they're 1-4 in their last five at a team with a home winning % of greater than .600.
3. X-Factor - Ryan Getzlaf is fifth in the NHL with his 44 points and has notched seven goals and 18 assists over his last 17 games.
Selection: This is a play on the Anaheim Ducks (10*)
