The Montreal Canadiens had won six straight games, allowing a total of seven goals before losing back-to-back games at home to the Lightning and the Penguins. They're coming to Columbus tonight to face off with a Blue Jackets side that also has dropped two in a row, not looking very dangerous on the attack. Only one of the Canadiens last five on the road have gone over the total, and I think we'll see another low-scoring contest here.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Low Scoring Teams - Both sides ranks among the bottom 10 in the league for goals scored and bottom five for shots per game. Columbus has tested its opponents goalie with 58 shots over its last three games, while Montreal has 50 shots over its last two combined.
2. Special Teams - The Canadiens have failed to score on the power play over three straight contests, going 1-for-21 over their last seven. The Blue Jackets have been rather efficient on the man advantage but could struggle here facing a Canadiens penalty kill that ranks among the best in the league. Columbus has scored 34 of their 104 goals for the season on the power play, so if Montreal can shut down their power play down they should not have much to fear 5-on-5.
3. X-Factor - Carey Price is confirmed to make a fifth consecutive start for Montreal. He's been on fire of late, conceding nine goals over four starts in the New Year posting a .930 save percentage.
Selection: This is a play on the under (10*)
