The Minnesota Wild are off a 2-1 win against the lowly Oilers Tuesday, their mere fourth win of the new year. The hosts picked up two points in a comfortable manner the same day in their first game back since the All Star break defeating the Sabres 4-1, and they've now won five of their last six games. I like the price we get on the home team here.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. The Flames First Line - A turbulent summer left the Flames in a rebuilding state crying for new stars to emerge. Johnny Gaudreau has responded to the call and is second in the league for rookies with hits 15 goals and 22 assists. He's forming a deadly trio together with Sean Monahan and Jiri Hudler. The three of them combined for five points against the Sabres with two goals coming from Gaudreau's stick.
2. Home Cookin' - Home ice advantage has been rather prevalent over recent meetings with the hosts claiming five of the last seven match-ups and the Wild have struggled on the road lately dropping four of their last six.
3. X-Factor - The Flames have won eight of their last nine versus Western Conference and are doing everything in their power to consolidate the wild card spot they're currently holding down.
Selection: This is a play on the Calgary Flames (10*)
