The St. Louis Blues and the Tampa Lightning both sit near the top of their respective conferences with 74 points on the season. The Bolts host the Blues in Tampa tonight, and we see a very affordable price on the home team. The Lightning lost in overtime at Nashville on Tuesday, but I like their chances of bouncing back at home with their #1 goaltender back between the pipes.
Here are my keys to the game :
1. Home Cookin' - The Lightning boast the best home record in the Eastern Conference, going 22-5-1 at Amalie Arena. No team in the NHL has more home wins than Tampa (Nashville also has 22). The home team has taken five of the last six in this series.
2. Offensive Firepower - The Bolts are the highest scoring team in the NHL averaging 3.2 goals per game. This year's team is also much deeper than in past seasons, with Tyler Johnson, Nikita Kucherov and Odrej Palat all tallying 40+ points.
3. X-Factor - Blues starting goaltender Brian Elliot was pulled after surrendering four goals on just 14 shots in a loss to Columbus Friday. He followed that up by giving up three goals on 27 shots in a loss to Chicago over the weekend.
Selection: This is a play on the Tampa Lightning (10*)
