The Coach's Tuesday NHL Trifecta (featuring 10* total!)
(NHL) NY Rangers vs. Winnipeg,
Total: 5.50 | 110.00 Over
Result: Win
Total: 5.50 | 110.00 Over
Result: Win
Neither the New York Rangers or the Winnipeg Jets can be too happy with recent results. The Rangers have lost three of their last four while the Jets have won only two of their last three. The easiest way to deny your opponent a victory is to ensure they don't score any goals, as was the case in the first meeting of the season when The Jets won 1-0 in a shootout at MSG. I think we'll see another low-scoring affair as the teams clash at MTS Centre tonight.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Winnipeg's Desperation For Points - The Jets are eighth in the West holding on to the last wild card in the conference two points ahead of the Los Angeles Kings in ninth. They need all the points they can get from here on and can't afford to risk going a goal down having to chase the game. They are more often that not playing low-scoring games against accomplished opponents, and the under is 4-1 in the Jets last five against teams with a winning % above .600.
2. New York Rangers Off A Big Loss - The Rangers have allowed nine goals over back-to-back losses, and I think they'll focus on tightening up the defense tonight. They lost 5-2 against the Caps Sunday, but the under is 6-0 in their last six following a loss of three or more goals.
3. X-Factor - Ondrej Pavelec shut out the Rangers in the first meeting of the season and is posting a 1.51 GAA over nine appearances in March.
Selection: This is a play on NYR@WIN to go UNDER the total (10*)
