"The Coach's" MLB Late Show SPECIAL
(MLB) Colorado vs. LA Dodgers,
Money Line: -242.00 LA Dodgers (Home)
Result: Win
Money Line: -242.00 LA Dodgers (Home)
Result: Win
The Dodgers will host Colorado at Chavez Ravine tonight, and the Rockies have cooled off after a red hot start to the season. Adrian Gonzalez is still swinging a hot bat for the Dodgers, who are an enormous favorite with ace Clayton Kershaw on the mound. I'll pay the price here for what appears to be a complete mismatch.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Pitching - Kershaw was roughed up at Arizona, losing his last start, but he pitched a lot better in a no-decision at home in his debut. He was 10-2 with a 1.70 ERA in 14 starts at home last year, so we should expect him to bring his best stuff here tonight. The Rockies will counter with Kyle Kendrick, who was annihilated in a loss to the Cubs his last time out. Kendrick was torched for eight runs on eight hits, including three home runs in just five innings.
2. Batter vs. Pitcher - Yasiel Puig is 5-for-9 lifetime versus Kendrick, while Juan Uribe is 5-for-8 in his career versus the right-hander.
3 X-Factor - Adrian Gonzalez comes in leading the major leagues with BA of .528, and he's first in the NL with five home runs. He's hit .333 versus Kendrick in a dozen at bats.
Selection: This is a play on the LA Dodgers (6*)
