The Oakland Athletics moved into first place in the AL West with a win over Kansas City last night, and they've been pretty impressive at the plate so far this season. This series is tied at 1-1, and I think we could see a few runs scored by both team in the rubber match at Kauffman Stadium Sunday.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Pitching - Scott Kazmir will get the call for the A's, and he's been quite impressive so far. Kazmir (2-0, 0.69 ERA) suffered from cramps in his last start versus the Astros, and he's had trouble in previous meetings with the Royals. He's 1-5 with a 4.93 ERA in seven starts versus Kansas City over the last three seasons. The Royals counter with Danny Duffy, who has surrendered eight runs on 14 hits over 11.1 innings so far this season.
2. Batter vs Pitcher - Eric Hosmer comes in swinging a hot bat, he's hitting .326 with nine RBIs so far, and he's hitting .400 lifetime versus Kazmir.
3. X-Factor - The over is 5-2-3 in Kazmirs last 10 road starts.
Selection: This is a play on OAK@KC to go OVER the total (10*)
