The Anaheim Ducks will host the Calgary Flames for Game 1 of this best of 7 Western Conference semifinals series. The Ducks dismissed the Jets comfortably over four straight games in round 1 allowing just nine goals while only two of the Flames six games against the Canucks in round 1 went over the total. I don't expect to see many goals in the important series opener tonight.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Fredrik Andersen - Andersen had to take the back-seat in last season's post-season as the Ducks opted to go with Jonas Hiller, now at Calgary, to tend the net. To say that Andersen has made the most of his chance in this years playoff would be an understatement as he's posted a 2.20 GAA with a .924 SV% over the four consecutive wins against the Jets. He was particularly impressive home at the Duck Pond yielding just three goals while making 53 saves over two games.
2. Calgary's Lack Of Depth - The Flames top-line consisting of Johnny Gaudreau, Sean Monahan and Jiri Hudler scored seven of the Flames 18 goals against the Nucks. Expect the Ducks destructive center Ryan Kesler and his line-mates to be matched-up against the super-trio. If they're not allowed to produce the Flames will struggle to find the net.
3. X-Factor - The under is 10-4 in the last 14 meetings in Anaheim and we get a rather high line here considering it's a playoff game.
Selection: This is a play on CGY@ANA to go under the total (8*)
