The Coach's MLB Late Show - SPECIAL
(MLB) Arizona vs. LA Dodgers,
Money Line: -146.00 LA Dodgers (Home)
Result: Win
Money Line: -146.00 LA Dodgers (Home)
Result: Win
The Arizona Diamondbacks have won just two of their last seven games and lost the opener of a three game set at Dodger Stadium 8-0 last night. The Los Angeles Dodgers have the opposite record as they've won five of their last seven and the hosts are looking good to set themselves up for a sweep tomorrow.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Pitching - The D'Backs will hand the ball to Jeremy Hellickson (1-3, 5.24 ERA) who was hit hard against the Pirates his last outing as he surrendered four runs on seven hits over just 4 2/3 innings of work. His only meeting with the Dodgers was back in 2013 when he conceded four runs over three innings and he might not last long tonight either. The 28 year old has struggled for quite some time now and is 1-7 with a 5.37 ERA in his last 13 starts. The Dodgers will counter with Scott Baker (0-1, 3.86 ERA) who is off a solid outing at San Diego where he hurled seven innings giving up three runs on four hits. He'll be looking to make a spot in the rotation his own with another solid start here as the Dodgers have injuries to regular starters Brandon McCarthy (elbow) and Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder).
2. Road Woes - Arizona has won just one of its last seven when visiting a team with a home winning percentage greater than .600. The Dodgers 11-2 home record on the season is among the best marks in the league and they've won each of the last for meetings in L.A.
3. X-Factor - The Dodgers bullpen ranks third in baseball for the season with a 2.13 ERA while the D'Backs ranks among the worst with a 4.39 ERA.
Selection: This is a play on the Los Angeles Dodgers (8*)
