The Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Colorado Rockies not only once but twice yesterday outscoring their opponents 13-7 and 5-1 at the Rocky Mountains. Tonight they're back home in Arizona looking to stop a San Diego Padres team that is coming off a 9-1 trouncing of the Giants Wednesday after getting shut out in the previous two games. I think this will be a very close encounter and see great value on the home-team on the run-line.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Pitching - The Padres will hand the ball to Odrisamer Despaigne (2-0 , 2.95 ERA) who'll make his third start of the season after spending some time in the bullpen over recent weeks. He gave up just one run on two hits with two walks over seven innings in a 5-1 home-win against the D'backs on April 14, but conceded four runs on four hits with two homers over just 1 2/3 innings against the Astros his last time out. He could be in for another sweaty evening here as he's 0-2 with a 5.06 ERA in two starts at Arizona. The D'Backs will counter with Rubby De La Rosa (2-2, 5.40 ERA) who surrendered three runs on six hits over six innings in an 8-4 win against the Padres on April 13 and has posted a 2.25 ERA against them over two career meetings.
2. Road Woes - The Padres are 1-4 in their last five road games overall and also 1-4 in Despaigne's last five starts away from home. They've won just two of the last seven meetings at Arizona.
3. X-Factor - David Peralta is 4-for-10 against Despaigne lifetime.
Selection: This is a play on the Arizona Diamondbacks +1.5 (8*)
