The Toronto Blue Jays will complete the sweep of this three game set against the Boston Red Sox with another win today. Boston has won just one of its last eight while Toronto has won four of its last five, a combination leading to the visitors coming in here undervalued in my opinion.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Pitching - The Red Sox will hand the ball to Clay Buchholz (1-4, 6.03 ERA) who's coming off two rough outings home at Fenway. He impressed in his last road-start though when he held the Rays to just one run on two hits over six innings with a season-high 10 strikeouts. He's leading the AL with 11.49 strikeouts per nine innings and the Jays will struggle to get a grip of the right-hander if he can get off to a good start to the game. Toronto will counter with R.A. Dickey (1-3, 4.38 ERA) is coming off eight solid innings against the Yankees but had allowed four runs on nine hits over seven innings at Boston his last start prior.
2. Situational - The Red Sox are 10-1 in Buchholz's last 11 road starts against the Blue Jays and 8-2 in his last 10 starts as a road underdog of +110 to +150.
3. X-Factor - David Ortiz has hits in nine of his last 10 games and is 8-for-21 with two homers lifetime versus against Dickey.
Selection: This is a play on the Boston Red Sox (7*)
