The Coach's MLB AL Central ANNIHILATOR - Twins@Tigers
(MLB) Minnesota vs. Detroit,
Money Line: -136.00 Detroit (Home)
Result: Win
Money Line: -136.00 Detroit (Home)
Result: Win
The Minnesota Twins are coming in to the opener of a three game set against the Detroit Tigers red hot having won nine of their last 11 games. Detroit has however won five of the previous six meetings on the year and I expect the Tigers to cool down the Twins tonight.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Pitching - The Twins will hand the ball to Kyle Gibson (3-2, 2.97 ERA) who allowed a season-high six runs while giving up five walks over just 3 2/3 innings against the Tigers on April 9. He's 1-3 with a 7.48 ERA in the last four meetings overall with Detroit. The Tigers will counter with Alfredo Simon (4-1, 3.44 ERA) who has been roughed up over his last two starts, both on the road. His pitching has been impeccable home at Comerica though where he's won both starts on the season behind a 1.29 ERA.
2. Situational - The Twins are 2-9 in Gibson's last 11 starts versus a team with a winning record and 1-5 in his last six starts as a road underdog.
3. X-Factor - Miguel Cabrera is 5-for-12 with a home run in previous at bats versus Gibson.
Selection: This is a play on the Detroit Tigers (8*)
