The Oakland A's and the Boston Red Sox will wrap up this series on the West Coast this afternoon, and after splitting the first two games, the home team is a big favorite in the rubber match. I like Boston as an underdog on the runline, as I think Oakland is a little overvalued here.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Pitching - The A's will hand the ball to Sonny Gray, who was a bit unlucky in his most recent outing. Gray (4-0, 1.65 ERA) surrendered just one run on six hits over six innings, but the A's lost 4-3 to Seattle. As good as he has been, the defense behind him and a shaky bullpen could prove to be his undoing at any time. The Red Sox counter with Wade Miley, who has been better on the road than he has been at Fenway.
2. Day/Night Splits - Prior to this season, Miley had pitched his best baseball in day games posting a record of 9-4 with a 2.85 ERA in 21 starts.
3. X-Factor - Oakland's bullpen ranks the worst in the American League with an ERA of 5.08.
Selection: This is a play on the Boston Red Sox RL (8*)
