The Los Angeles Angels are coming into this contest on the back of four consecutive victories. They defeated the Baltimore Orioles in the opener of a three game set at Camden Yards 3-1 last night, and I like the price we get on the visitors Saturday night.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Pitching - The Orioles will hand the ball to Ubaldo Jimenez (3-2, 2.41 ERA) instead of Bud Norris who is out with bronchitis. He's off a solid performance when held the Blue Jays to two runs on six hits over seven innings, but the Orioles are just 1-4 in Jimenez's last five starts following a Quality Start. The Angels have hit him hard over previous meetings with Jimenez going 0-4 with a 6.12 ERA in four starts. The Angels will counter with Matt Shoemaker (2-3, 6.61 ERA) who's struggled at home on the year but has been better on the road going 2-0 with a 4.50 ERA over three starts. This should come as no surprise as he's 6-0 with a 3.26 ERA in his last eight road starts with the Angels winning all of them.
2. The Angels Bullpen - No other bullpen in the majors has been more efficient over the last seven days than the Angels. It has compiled a 1.77 ERA over 56 innings of work, holding opponents to a .169 batting average.
3. X-Factor - Erick Aybar is 5-for-11 with a homer against Jimenez lifetime and is coming in red hot going 9-for-14 over his last four games.
Selection: This is a play on the Los Angeles Angels +1.5 (8*)
