The Boston Red Sox will host the Texas Rangers for the opener of a three game set at Fenway Park Tuesday night. They're back home from a 10 game road-trip which saw them pick up five "W"s, and I like the price we get on the hosts here.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Pitching - The Rangers will hand the ball to Yovani Gallardo (3-5, 3.94 ERA) who's struggled on the road this season going 1-3 with a 4.43 ERA. He lasted only 5 1/3 innings at Tampa Bay his last start on the road, and a similar performance tonight would put pressure on one of the worst bullpens in the major leagues. The Red Sox will counter with Wade Miley (2-4, 5.60) who's coming off 6 2/3 scoreless innings at Oakland. He's allowed just one run and striking out eight in 7 2/3 innings in his lone start against Texas, and I think he'll be able to handle the light-hitting Rangers tonight as well.
2. Texas Inconsistency - The Rangers denied the Tribe to sweep them over three games as they picked up a 5-1 win Sunday. They're however just 4-13 in their last 17 games following a win and 0-4 in their last four away from home when visiting a team with a losing record.
3. X-Factor - Wade Miley has the current members of the Rangers limited to a combined .192 batting average over 26 at bats.
Selection: This is a play on the Boston Red Sox (8*)
