Both the Boston Red Sox and the Texas Rangers are sitting second to last in their respective division and they play Game 2 of this series at Globe Life Park tonight. Boston won the opener 5-1 last night, and I like the visitors in tonight's match-up as well.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Pitching - The Rangers will hand the ball to Yovani Gallardo (4-6, 4.13) who'll make his second start against the Red Sox for the season. He surrendered four runs on a season-high 10 hits over just five innings in a 4-3 loss at Fenway 10 days ago, and he has lost four of his last six starts overall. The Red Sox will counter with Steven Wright (2-1, 3.68 ERA) as he's coming off his second win of the season (his first ever as a starter) when he held the Angels to just two runs on four hits over a season-high 6 1/3 innings of work.
2. Home Woes - Texas has lost four of its last five home in the Lone Star state and is just 3-7 in its last 10 games as a home favorite and is 8-12 against the run-line at home on the year.
3. X-Factor - Big Papi has not been swinging a hot bat of late, but perhaps a date with Gallardo is just what the struggling slugger needs since he's 4-for-7 with a homer and no strikeouts against the right-hander in previous meetings.
Selection: This is a play on the Boston Red Sox +1.5 (8*)
