The Oakland A's took two of three at home against the Rockies, but they still own the worst home record in the American League. They host the Mariners in Game 1 of a four game series at Overstock Coliseum tonight, and Seattle's pitching staff has shutout the opposition in two straight. I think runs may be hard to come by again in Oakland tonight.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Pitching - Roenis Elias will get the nod for the visitors, and he's been rather hit or miss of late. Elias (4-5, 4.25 ERA) didn't have his best stuff in his last start, giving up seven runs on run on five hits over 3.2 innings in a home loss to the Royals. He was dominant in his previous start, giving up two runs on four hits and striking out 10 in a win over Houston. The A's will counter with Scott Kazmir, who owns a miniscule 2.79 ERA.
2. Batter vs. Pitcher - The Mariners lineup has hit a measly .221 versus Kazmir, with more strikeouts (40) than hits (33).
3. X-Factor - The Mariners have seen the total go under in seven of their last eight versus left-handed pitching.
Selection: This is a play on Seattle@Oakland to go UNDER the total (10*)
