Point Spread: -1.50 | -121.00 Toronto (Home)

The Detroit Tigers struggles just won't end. They're anchored at the bottom of the AL Central after winning only one of their last nine games and have been outscored 20-4 over the first two of this three-game series at Rogers Centre. The Toronto Blue Jays are top of their division but with the New York Yankees breathing down their neck, and I don't see the Blue Jays taking a day off just yet despite winning 23 of their last 28 games overall.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Pitching - The Blue Jays hand the ball to Mark Buehrle (13-6, 3.60) who's 4-0 with a 2.81 ERA over his last seven starts at home. Hardly a coincidence as he's a solid 7-1 behind a 3.11 ERA in 11 home-starts this season and I would not read too much into his recent struggles, 0-1, 8.10 ERA in his last two starts, as both starts took place outside of Toronto. He has an 18-10 career record against the Tigers who will counter with Alfredo Simon (11-8, 4.89 ERA). The 34 year old has a 5.77 ERA in 12 road-starts for the year and was lit up for eight runs on nine hits and four walks in 4 1/3 innings against the Angels his last start, a game the Tigers lost 8-7.
2. The Blue Jays' Bats - When you thought they could not get any hotter, then the Blue Jays turned it up another notch. They scored 15 runs on 18 hits yesterday and have averaged 11 runs per game over their last six with a .353 team batting average. Edwin Encarnacion was 3-for-5 with three homers and nine RBIs yesterday and is batting .458 over the last seven days.
3. X-Factor - Detroit's bullpen is among the worst in the major leagues with a 4.57 ERA.
Selection: This is a play on the Toronto Blue Jays -1,5 (8*)
