Total: 48.00 | -102.00 Over
Result: Win
The New Orleans Saints are hoping to get Drew Brees back when they host the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football, but Dallas will still have it's backup under center. This is a must win for the 0-3 Saints, and they will be a favorite against a Dallas team decimated by injuries. I've got my eye on the total, as it looks like too many points in a game between two struggling teams.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Brandon Weeden - The Cowboys backup has lost his last nine starts dating back to 2012, and he's thrown more INTs (29) than TDs (27) in his career. Don't expect Dallas to ask him to air it out too often, as they should be handing off to Joseph Randle early and often.
2. Injuries - While the Saints expect Brees to return, that might not be a good thing. McCown threw for 310 yards on the road last week, and Brees was terrible against the Buccaneers in his last start.
3. X-Factor - The Cowboys rank in the top 10 in total defense allowing just 317 yards per game. They are 5-0 ATS in their last five road games, most recently defeating the Eagles 20-10 in Philly.
Selection: This is a play on the Cowboys@Saints to go UNDER the total (10*)
