The Columbus Blue Jackets are off to their worst start in franchise history losing each of their six games for the season. Odds are they'll struggle when hosting the New York Islanders Tuesday as well, and I think we're getting a fair price on the visitors who have won three straight heading into the game.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. The Blue Jackets Defensive Woes - Columbus has conceded a NHL-worst 5.0 goals per game and allowed a goal on seven of 20 shorthanded situations. The Islanders captain John Tavares had four goals and four assists last season versus Columbus and New York leads the league in shots with 34.2 per game.
2. Jaroslav Halak - The Islanders #1 netminder won his season-debut Saturday when making 22 saves in the 6-3 win against the Sharks. He'll be looking to improve on a 9-4-3 career record against a Blue Jackets team that was held to one goal on 33 shots in a 4-1 loss at Chicago Saturday.
3. X-Factor - Columbus lone positive this season has been a decent power play unit, but it was held scoreless on two opportunities against the Blackhawks its last game.
Selection: This is a play on the New York Islanders (7*)
