*10* PLAYBOOK on San Diego Chargers.
We find the San Diego Chargers at last place in the AFC West, so naturally the public have decided that they stand no chance when hosting the division-leading Denver Broncos home at Qualcomm Stadium Sunday afternoon. I'm of a different opinion though, and I would not be surprised to not only see the Chargers cover the spread but also threaten to win outright.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Philip Rivers - The 33 year old QB has struggled in previous meetings with the Broncos, but he threw for 300 yards and four TDs when the Chargers ended a six-game skid in last week's 31-25 win at Jacksonville. This should be a perfect time for Rivers to get the better of the Broncos D coming in with all that momentum.
2. Situational - The Broncos are off back-to-back wins as they managed to upset the Patriots last week with a 30-24 OT win. They're just 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games following a ATS win though, and they've failed to cover the spread in each of their last four when playing a team with a losing record.
3. X-Factor - The injured Broncons QB Peyton Manning had the cast removed from his left foot Wednesday. Brock Osweiler must know that no matter how good he performs he'll most likely lose his spot when Manning's back, and that can not be a very motivating feeling.
Selection: This is a play on the San Diego Chargers (10*)
