*10* Coach's Clinic on Detroit Lions.
The Rams come into this Sunday' home game against the Lions as losers of five straight, and I don't like their chances of halting that skid here this week. Detroit was victimized by an Aaron Rodgers Hail Mary pass on the final play in last Thursday's 27-23 loss. They had won three straight previously, and I think they'll get right back on track today.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Matt Stafford - His sub-par play early in the season had a lot to do with the offensive line's failure to give him any time in the pocket. He was sacked six times in a loss to the Chiefs on November 1st, but since then the O-line has done a much better job of keeping him upright. He's thrown for over 1,000 yards with nine TDs and just one INT while winning three of his last four starts.
2. Rams Passing Game - Nick Foles has been just brutal, with four INTs and no touchdowns the last two weeks. Case Keenum didn't exactly light it up in his only start, throwing for 136 yards and a TD on 12-of-26 passing. Keenum is expected to be back under center this Sunday, and the fact that they feel he's their best option doesn't inspire much confidence in their ability to move the ball.
3. X-Factor - Todd Gurley ran for over 100 yards in four of his first five games this season, but since then he's been held to an average of just 3.3 yards per carry over the last five games.
Selection: This is a play on the Detroit Lions (10*)
