*10* Total MASSACRE on OVER Bruins/Penguins.
The reeling Pittsburgh Penguins will host the surging Boston Bruins Friday night. We saw a low-scoring affair then the Bruins defeated the Pens home in Boston just two days ago, but I expect to see the teams light up the lamp on far more occasions tonight.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Pittsburgh's Goaltending Situation - The Pens star netminder Marc-Andre Fleury is expected to miss at least a week due to a concussion and they turned to back-up Jeff Zatkoff in Wednesday's 3-0 loss to the Bruins. Zatkoff has compiled a 2.35 GAA over six appearances this season and will be put to the test by a Bruins team that has averaged 3.2 goals per game this season which is the second best mark in the NHL.
2. Boston's Special Teams - The Bruins have the best power play in the league with a 29.4% success rate for the season and they converted on one of four chances in Wednesday's game. Their penalty kill rank in the bottom half though and this could be a good spot for the Pens to break out of a power play slump.
3. The Pens' Attitude - Sidney Crosby is far from happy with the Penguins poor goal-scoring record this season (only 2.23 per game). "Once we get one or two, hopefully the flood gates open up for us," Crosby told the NHL's official website. "But we can't let it bother us; at the same time, we can't accept it." With the offensive talent in this team it's only a matter of time before as Crosby puts it, the flood gates open.
Selection: This is a play on BOS@PIT to go OVER the total (10*)
