Rogers' 10* NBA Total of the Day >> $20 Tuesday!
(NBA) Sacramento vs. LA Lakers,
Total: 217.50 | -110.00 Over
Result: Win
Total: 217.50 | -110.00 Over
Result: Win
The set-up: The 23-32 Sacramento Kings are in LA at Staples Center to take on the 19-37 Lakers. The Kings have won three in a row and will try to match a season-high four-game winning streak tonight. Meanwhile, the Lakers are just 4-11 their last 15 games but are coming off one of their best performances of the season, a 122-114 road win this past Friday in Milwaukee. LA scored a season-best 47 points in the first quarter and 76 in the first half!
Sacramento: All Star center DeMarcus Cousins continues to carry the Kings, averaging 27.8 points and 10.7 rebounds per game. However, his on-court antics cannot be ignored. He leads the NBA with 17 technical fouls, matching his total of last season. He has already served an automatic one-game suspension for accumulating 16 technicals and his next one will result in him being suspended again. "It's obvious I can't be myself," Cousins told the Sacramento Bee after the win over the Pelicans. "Me playing how I play is what makes me the player that I am. Obviously, it's not acceptable, so I'm trying to find a way to, you know, do what these guys are asking me to do. It's not easy, but I'm trying to find a way." Re-read that quote and does any sane person believe that we will ever see a "change of heart" by Cousins?
LA Lakers: Yes, the Lakers are playing just .339 basketball on the season but remember, last year's 17 wins set a franchise record for futility. Head coach Luke Walton summed up his team's showing at Milwaukee by saying "we were attacking, we weren't settling. LA is led by its backcourt which includes starters Russell (14.2 & 4.8 APG) and Young (14.0) plus leading scorer Williams (18.4) and Clarkson coming off the bench. Luke Walton shook up his lineup by benching starting center Timofey Mozgov (7.5 & 5.0) and forward Luol Deng (7.8 & 5.4), inserting Tarik Black (6.1 & 5.6) in the middle and rookie Brandon Ingram (8.1 & 4.1) in Deng's spot. We'' see what he does here but we know that injuries continue to be an issue. Guards Jordan Clarkson (right thumb sprain), D'Angelo Russell (sore left knee) and Lou Williams (mild right ankle sprain) are ailing, but all three are listed as probable.
The pick: The Kings have dominated this series lately (have won eight of the last nine meetings), so they may just get a fourth straight win. However, this over/number is rather high for teams which don't score much. The Kings rank 22nd in scoring and the Lakers, 18th. The Under is a 10* play.
