Point Spread: 8.50 | -110.00 Montreal (Away)
Result: Win
The set-up: The Montreal Alouettes eked out a 17-16 win in Week 1 at Saskatchewan, while the Edmonton Eskimos edged the BC Lions 30-27 on the road. The two teams meet Friday at the Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton. Montreal QB Darian Durant passed for 233 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions. Edmonton QB Mike Reilly tortured opposing defenses in 2016 with 5,554 passing yards, as well as finishing second in the league in both TD passes (28) and rushing TDs (9). He passed for 315 yards, two TDs and zero INTs in the three-point win over the Lions.
The pick: Edmonton has won the last six meetings against the Montreal Alouettes but none of those teams were led by a motivated Durant. Durant led Saskatchewan from 2006-2016 but after the Roughriders were unable to agree upon terms with him, his rights were traded to the Montreal Alouettes on January of 2017. He should make Montreal a better team in 2017 and he was sharp in the season opener. The Eskimos are just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games and Durant is playing with a "chip on his shoulder." After Week 1's win, the Alouettes are 4-0 ATS in their last four road games. Make that 5-0 and I'll make Montreal an 8* play.
