The 2-3 Saskatchewan Roughriders and the 4-2 BC Lions meet for the first time in 2017 Saturday at BC Place. The Roughriders are led by QB Kevin Glenn, who is completing 70.8 percent of his passes for 1,598 yards with 11 TD passes and just four interceptions. Saskatchewan ranks fifth of nine teams in scoring (28.2 PPG) and its defense has been solid, ranking second in yards allowed (359.6 per) and fourth in points allowed (26.8 per). The BC Lions opened the season with a 30-27 home loss to Edmonton but then won four in a row, the first three all coming on the road. However, in a return match with Eskimos in Edmonton last week, the Lions fell again, this time by the score of 37-26. Starting QB Jennings was hurt a few weeks ago and veteran Lulya took over and passed for 436 and 404 yards in B2B wins. However, despite completing 22 of 26 passes at Edmonton, he was held to just 259 passing yards in the 11-point loss. BC's offense has been consistent, ranking third in scoring (31.7 PPG) and yards (414.8 per). The defense has been below average, allowing 27.7 PPG on 397.3 YPG (both numbers rank sixth).
The pick: The BC Lions have had no problems so far this season, except for going 0-2 vs.the Edmonton Eskimos. Then again, Edmonton stands at 6-0 on the season. BC played and beat Saskatchewan in each of the last two weeks of the 2016 season, outscoring the Roughriders by a combined score of 65-24! Saskatchewan has moved the ball and scored points at home here in 2017 (38.2 PPG in three contests) but has scored a total of just 26 points (13.0 per) in two road losses. Expect more road woes for the Roughriders in this one. Make BC a 10* play
