Rogers' 10* ATTACK DOG >> Had BYU over Wisc AND Temple over Maryland Last Wk!
(NCAAF) Florida International (FIU) vs. Miami-FL,
Point Spread: 27.00 | -115.00 Florida International (FIU) (Away)
Result: Win
Point Spread: 27.00 | -115.00 Florida International (FIU) (Away)
Result: Win
The set-up: Outright upset? Of course not. But I think Miami Florida comes in distracted enough to let lowly FIU sneak in through the back door down the stretch.
The teams: FIU destroyed UMass 63-24 last weekend, as QB James Morgan had 207 yards and two TD's. Shawndarrius Phillips had 117 rushing yards. Overall Morgan has six TD's and three INT's. Clearly this is a huge step up in competition, but after two straight wins, the Panthers won't just be rolling over here today.
Miami Florida comes in off a big win too, smashing Toledo 49-24. QB Malik Rosier was 13 of 23 for 205 yards and two TD's, while also adding 80 yards and three more scores on the ground. Note that the defense took a major hit with an injury to Jaquan Johnson. He he went out Toledo gained huge chunks through the air.
The pick: Take it for what you will, but FIU is 12-8 ATS in its last 20 as an underdog, while Miami Florida is just 5-8 ATS in its last 13 against teams with winning records. I think a confident and "under the radar" FIU team can keep this one competitive against an over-confident and complacent Hurricanes home side. Grab the points.
