(NCAAF) New Mexico vs. Air Force,
Point Spread: -7.50 | -105.00 Air Force (Home)
Result: Win
Point Spread: -7.50 | -105.00 Air Force (Home)
Result: Win
The set-up: Both the 0-3 New Mexico Lobos and the 1-2 Air Force Falcons have struggled this year. That said, with some extra time off to prepare this week, I like the Falcons to do just enough to earn the ATS victory here. The Lobos most recently lost 27-20 against Nevada, while Air Force has been off since a 49-30 loss to BOise State on October 31st. If recent history is any precedence, then the Falcons have to be loving their chances here as well as they've won the last two in this series, including last year's contest by a decisive 44-22 margin. The Lobos come to town with their backup QB Trae Hall under center, and he'll be leaning heavily on his run game and Bobby Cole, who has posted 5.8 yards per carry in the early going. Overall New Mexico averages 24.7 PPG, but it concedes 34.7.
The picks: Air Force averages 330 yards on the ground, led by Timothy Jackson, who has 178 yards on 34 carries. The Falcons have been decent defensively as well, allowing oonly 24.3 points per game. Finally note that the Falcons are 4-1 ATS the last five in this series at home, while New Mexico is just 3-8 ATS in its last 11 road games. Consider Air Force on Friday.
