The Angels’ tale of woe continues. After firing their manager, it now looks as if they have lost Trout on top of Rendon and Ward. Today’s starter, rookie lefty Detmers (4.20 ERA) has had very mixed results, including a no-hitter, but hasn’t pitched for much length since. He had a fine if short outing vs the Yankees in his last appearance, but allowed 8 runs in just 9+ innings in the two starts previous.

Boston starter Eovaldi has been sharp lately, and a strikout machine this year with 25 Ks in his last three games. The Sox’ pen has been excellent, while the Angels’ has been beyond poor. Is this the game that the Angels’ bats come back to life, and they break a 13 game slump? Probably not vs. Eovaldi. Take the Red Sox to carry on winning.
