This is a 10* TOTAL OF THE MONTH on the UNDER between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Washington Capitals.
The 4-1 Toronto Maple Leafs have seen the Over/Under go 4-1 this year, while the 3-2-1 Capitals have seen it go 5-1. While it's true that these two clubs have had little difficulty putting the biscuit in the basket to open the season, we feel that the conditions are now finally correct for a much more defensive affair this evening. Toronto enters off a 4-3 road win over Montreal, while the Capitals come in off a humilating 8-2 setback in Philadelphia. Both teams are expected to contend and be in the playoffs at the end of the season, but clearly neither can be happy with their shoddy defensive play to this point. Toronto is conceding 3.80 GPG, while averaging 5.20. Note though that Leafs' netminder Frederik Andeson is 2-1 with a 2.67 GAA lifetime against Washington. The Capitals have averaged 3.67 GPG and allowed 3.67 as well. Branden Holtby is expected between the pipes and he's 6-3 with a 2.17 GAA lifetime against Toronto. The Leafs welcome Detroit to town tomorrow night, while the Capitals enjoy two nights off. We think these elite goaltenders become the main story line in tomorrow's summaries. Play on the UNDER.
