This is an 8* SUPER TOTAL on the OVER between Louisiana Tech and SMU.

One set of criteria which we always use when making our decisions are Against The Spread (ATS) statistics.
This particular play is based primarily on strong/relative O/U ATS statistics and common sense:
As note that Louisiana Tech has seen the total go OVER the number in eight of its last 11 as an underdog, in nine of its last 11 after two or more consecutive SU victories and in three of its last four after laying with two or more weeks of rest, while SMU has seen the total go OVER the number in three of four non-conference games already this season and in three of its last four when playing the role of favorite.
The bottom line: SMU has scored at least 40 points in three straight games. The Bulldogs needed to win their final two games of the year to qualify for a bowl and we expect that momentum to get carried over here. Louisiana Tech was better defensively this year than in season's past, but the Bulldogs are going to be pushed form the outset from this hungry Mustangs team, which returns to a bowl for the first time in four years. The numbers and the overall situation all point to the OVER as the savvy move in this contest.
