Paul Goldchmidt was 2-for-4 with a triple, a home run and four RBIs in last night's 11-6 win over Colorado. The Arizona slugger had an MVP caliber season in 2015, and he's one of the favorites to win the award this year. Arizona will host the Rockies in the series finale at Chase Field this afternoon, and I think this is a good spot to back the D'Backs at home.
Patrick Corbin will toe the slab for the home team, and he's coming off a pretty solid Spring. The 26 year old southpaw was 2-0 with a 2.17 ERA, striking out a whopping 24 batters in 21 innings of work. He's owned the Rockies in his career, going 5-0 with a 3.43 ERA in seven starts.
The Rockies hand the ball to Tyler Chatwood, who missed all of last season while recovering from his second Tommy John surgery. The 26 year old was rather pedestrian this Spring, allowing eight runs on 13 hits over 14 innings.
Colorado's bullpen gave up six of Arizona's 11 runs yesterday, and the Rockies relievers ranked near the bottom of the majors in 2015. They should be called upon early today, as we don't expect Chatwood to throw a lot of pitches as he makes his return from injury.
