Rogers' NFL Coach's Clinic >> 15-9 This Week!
(NFL) Green Bay vs. Tennessee, 11/13/2016 8:00 AM, Score: 25 - 47
Point Spread: -3.00 | 102.00 Green Bay (Away)
Result: Loss
The set-up: The 4-4 Green Bay Packers visit Nashville to take on the 4-5 Tennessee Titans. Both teams need a win here, as Minnesota (NFC North) and Houston (AFC South) both lead those respective divisions with 5-3 records. The Packers limp in as losers of three of their last four, including back-to-back one-point and five-point defeats. The Jags have averaged 32.3 PPG over their last three but have lost two of them, allowing 34 and 43 points in the defeats.

Green Bay: This game at Tennessee is the first of a three-game road trip for the Packers, one that will very well make or break the team's season (visits to Washington and Philadelphia follow). It's difficult to absorb that with QB Aaron Rodgers, the Packers rank 20th in passing yards (243.5 YPG) but that's the case. However, Rodgers is rounding into "typical form," completing 67.9% for an average of 289.7 YPG his last three, throwing 10 TD passes against just one INT. However, Green Bay's rushing game (106.6 YPG) gives him little support and the defense has allowed 31.3 PPG in the team's last three losses (coming over a four-game span).

Tennessee: The Titans 4-5 record may not seem like anything special but when a franchise is coming off a 5-27 combined record in the 2014 and 2015 seasons, it does represent a solid step forward. The Titans had a chance to get to 5-4 last Sunday at San Diego but quickly fell behind 16-0 early in the second quarter. Tennessee did claw back to take a brief 21-19 lead before San Diego regained the lead for good, helped by two scores off turnovers by QB Marcus Mariota. The second-year QB threw for 313 yards and three scores plus added a 14-yard TD run but his three turnovers led to 17 Charger points. Mariota has made real strides in 2016 with 17 TDs and 8 INTs for a QB rating of 94.6. He's been greatly aided by a DeMarco Murray (807 yards / 4.6 YPC / 7 TDs) led rushing attack which ranks third in the NFL at 144.2 YPG.

The pick: The Packers turned in a lackluster performance in their 31-26 home loss to Indianapolis last week, prompting Rodgers to call out his teammates for displaying "uncharacteristically low energy." Head coach Mike McCarthy vowed that will not be an issue this week, promising his team will "play with great energy Sunday." The Packers are a team used to being in "must-win" situations while the Titans return home for their lone November home game but that hardly inspires confidence. How could it, considering Tennessee is 4-15-2 ATS at home since the start of the 2014 season. Green Bay is an 8* play.
