Iowa will search for improved shooting while Iowa State tries to protect its perfect home record when the in-state rivals meet Thursday at Ames, Iowa. The Hawkeyes (5-3) are coming off an 87-68 loss to fourth-ranked Purdue on Monday, when they shot just 38.5 percent from the field. The Canada native and transfer from Valparaiso has scored in double figures in all eight games this season and is averaging 18.4 points per game. Perkins is averaging 12.8 points per outing. Payton Sandfort (13.5) and Patrick McCaffery (11.5) are also averaging double figures for the Hawkeyes. Despite the loss, head coach Fran McCaffery has faith in is team moving forward. The Cyclones (6-2) are coming off a 99-80 win over DePaul on Friday thanks to a triple-double from Tamin Lipsey, who scored 15 points to go along with 10 rebounds and 10 assists. It was the seventh triple-double in Iowa State history and the first since Tyrese Haliburton in 2020. Lipsey is averaging a team-leading 16.1 points per game and 6.5 rebounds per outing for the Cyclones. Keshon Gilbert ranks second in scoring at 14.8 points per outing while Milan Momcilovic is putting up 13.6 points per game. The Cyclones will put their unbeaten home record (4-0) on the line against the Hawkeyes. Iowa has won four of the last five meetings and five of the last seven. The Hawkeyes lead the all-time series 48-28. We like the Hawkeyes to hang tough here as they lead the all-time series, and we think this will be a tight game. Let's roll with Iowa.
