Major
(NCAAB) Kent State vs. Youngstown State,
Point Spread: -2.50 | -110.00 Kent State (Away)
Result: Win
Though the cliche about handicapping backcourt play is not totally true, it holds a lot more weight in mid-majors. The Flashes feature one of the most experienced backcourts in mid-major basketball. Seniors Kris Brewer, Derek Jackson and Devareaux Manley and junior Kellon Thomas combined to average 38.7 points per game last season.

Major contributions are expected from Jimmy Hall, a transfer from Hofstra who sat out last season. Hall was named Preseason MAC Newcomer of the Year by Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook. He is one of four key players at 6-7 or taller.

Youngstown State is coming off a 15-17 season and returns just two starters. Kent State has won six consecutive season-openers and also six consecutive matchups with Youngstown State.
