The Dodgers are coming into this game playing very well in their recent games as they have won their last 3 straight as well as 7 of their last 8 games and their offense has been on fire in these games. They have scored at least 8 runs in 2 of their last 3 as well as 6 of their last 7 games and they are going up against a Diamondbacks team that has an offense that has been cooling down recently. The Diamondbacks have been struggling a lot recently as they have lost their last 7 straight games and are finally starting to regress after leading the NL West for most of the season. Their offense has been awful recently as they have been averaging just 2 runs scored per game in their last 6 games and now they have slipped all the way down to 3rd place in the division while the Dodgers look to pull away now and put this division out of reach. Bobby Miller is starting for the Dodgers here and he is 6-2 with a 4.26 ERA this season. He is just a rookie but he has been pitching well in his recent starts as he allowed just 1 earned run on the road against the Padres in his last start and has also allowed 1 earned run or less in 2 of his last 3 road starts. Miller may allow a few runs in this game but he will not allow many against this Diamondbacks offense that has been fading over the last week and he also has one of the strongest offenses in the MLB to back him up with runs here. Merrill Kelly is starting for the Diamondbacks here and he is 9-5 with a 3.21 ERA this season. He has been pitching very well all season but he has allowed at least 2 earned runs in each of his last 2 starts and those were both against some of the weaker offenses in the league who could not take advantage. Now Kelly has to face one of the strongest offenses in the league here and even though he has not been allowing many runs, he has been giving up a lot of hits with 6 or more hits allowed in each of his last 2 as well as 3 of his last 4 starts and the Dodgers are very hot on offense right now, they are going to take advantage of the hits they get off Kelly in this game. The Diamondbacks bullpen has not been great this season either and the Dodgers will be looking to send a message in this series that they are here to take the division now.
