Marquette is coming into this game with a 25-8 record this season and they are 14-6 in the conference. They have been playing well recently as they have won their last 3 straight games, but they still have 2 losses in their last 5 games and they were both against the only ranked teams they faced in that span. They lost at home by 7 points to UConn and on the road by 14 points against Creighton and a big reason for those losses is due to the fact that they are missing one of their best players in Kolek and have not been the same team without him. They struggled to beat Villanova in the 1st round of this tournament as well and now they are playing their 3rd straight day which is only going to hurt their depth with the missing piece. They are going up against a UConn team that has been dominant this season as they are 30-3 and 18-2 in the conference. They have won their last 6 straight games with 4 of those wins coming by 10+ points. They already beat Marquette twice this season, winning by close to 30 points at home and by 7 points on the road, and this is also going to feel like more of a home game for UConn as well. Marquette simply does not have the talent and depth without Kolek in the lineup to keep this a close game against a team like UConn and this is definitely a game UConn has circled since they did not win the Big East Tournament last season and actually lost it to Marquette. UConn is going to be hungry to win this tournament and they are not taking their foot off the gas against a weakened Marquette team. UConn will cover the spread in this game.
