Result: Loss
Money Line: 102.00 NY Mets (Away)
Result: Loss
The Mets are coming into this game with a 44-44 record this season and after an awful start to the year, they have finally pulled themselves back into a position where they can contend for a Wild Card. They have been pitching very well recently as they have allowed 2 runs or less in each of their last 2 as well as 3 of their last 4 games, and they have won their last 2 straight games with a chance to win this series here. They are going up against a Pirates team that is 42-47 this season and they have been trending in the opposite direction as the Mets have been as the Pirates started the season playing very well and have fallen off now to where they are below .500. They have lost their last 2 straight as well as 3 of their last 4 games, and their offense has scored 2 runs or less in 3 of those 4 games as well. Mitch Keller is starting for the Pirates here and he is 9-5 with a 3.48 ERA this season. Just like the Pirates as a team, Keller started the season pitching very well as he was not allowing many runs, but recently he has been allowing a lot more as he is starting to unravel. He is coming off of a start which he allowed 6 earned runs in a 7-4 loss, and he has allowed 10 runs total in his last 2 starts now. He has also allowed at least 4 runs in 3 of his last 4 starts. He has been allowing a lot of hits in his starts as well and he has not been getting much run support either. Christian Scott is starting for the Mets in this game and he is 0-2 with a 4.32 ERA this season. He is coming off of a start which he allowed 4 earned runs in, but he has allowed 2 earned runs or less in 2 of his last 3 starts as well. He is in his rookie season and has only made 6 starts this year, but the Mets have been starting to offer more run support recently as they have scored at least 5 runs in 2 of his last 3 starts. Scott may not keep the Pirates off the board entirely, but their offense has not been great recently so he will pitch well enough for the Mets offense to win this game, especially now that Keller is starting to unravel and the Pirates bullpen has not been great either. The Mets will win this game.
