Illinois is coming into this game with a 1-0 record this season after beating Eastern Illinois 45-0 in their 1st game of the season. They had a season of regression last year, going 5-7 after going 8-5 the year prior, but they will be pushing to have a better season with an improved team this year. Illinois had a very balanced offense in their 1st game, rushing and passing for close to 250 yards each, and their quarterback was very accurate with his passes as well. Their defense was also great, specifically in the run game as they only allowed 49 yards rushing, and that is going to be key to stopping this Kansas offense. They are going up against a Kansas team that is also 1-0 this season after beating Lindenwood 48-3 in their 1st game of the season. They had close to 200 yards passing and over 300 yards rushing, but now they are not up against an FCS team, they are facing a much better Illinois team with a Big 10 defense and this will be a very different game for them on the road. These two faced last season and Kansas won at home 34-23, but being at home will give Illinois a better chance to keep this game close and even win straight up. Both teams are going to run the ball here so this game will be won on the ground, and Illinois has some good pieces on the defensive line that will slow down this Kansas offense.
