Betting Trend: KC sports the highest run line winning percentage (54.0%) as home favorites this season.
I favor a wager on the Royals to bounce back from a four-game losing stretch with a run line victory at home versus SF.
SP Michael Wacha has been excellent at Kauffman Stadium this season, posting a 7-2 record with a 2.87 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in 13 home starts. He is also 11-2 with a 3.28 ERA and 1.20 WHIP in night games (18 starts). The veteran righty has been even better in the second half of the season (7-1 with a 2.57 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in 11 starts since the All-Star break). I expect him to handle a Giants lineup that ranks 23rd in wRC+, 25th in wOBA and 22nd in hard-hit% against right-handers.
Giants SP Mason Black is 0-4 with a 7.07 ERA and 1.64 WHIP in seven appearances (six starts) this year. He has allowed a homer in every appearance and is unlikely to last more than 3-4 innings before handing the ball to an average Giants bullpen (4.01 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 68 HR allowed).
SF was eliminated from the playoffs yesterday and could get crushed today against a motivated Royals ballclub. Let's bet the RL at plus odds and laugh straight to the bank!
