I expect the Aggies to rely on their ground game to move the chains, especially given Conner Weigman's poor performances as QB1. TAMU has a terrific running back in Le'Veon Moss and a big-time offensive line. It ranks 24th in EPA/Rush, with Moss averaging over six yards per carry, and ranks top-15 in both Offensive Line Yards and Stuff Rate allowed. That said, Moss struggled last week against Mississippi State and now faces a Tigers defense ranked top-40 in both Rushing Success Rate allowed and Defensive Line Yards. Without an effective complementary ground, the Aggies' passing game will be nonexistent.
Texas A&M will show up ready for war on defense, which is Mike Elko's calling card. This is the Aggies' stiffest test since Notre Dame and Kyle Field will be rocking to show support. It will take time for the Tigers to break down the home team's defense, as it's stout against the run and can pressure the quarterback. A&M has also been elite on third down. While I'm encouraged by the progress the LSU ground game has made in recent weeks with Caden Durham running the ball, he is still a freshman and is a little banged up heading into this contest, as well.
With that said, I expect a slower tempo that results in a win for under bettors!
