The Yankees will win by at least two runs on Wednesday in the Bronx. I picked Seattle to win on Monday, and while it took a late collapse by New York, the pick was a winner. I'm also in on the Mariners to cover the run line on Tuesday. I believe they'll be up against it tomorrow, though.
"Nasty" Nestor Cortes fared well against Seattle last season and has been lights out at home in 2024, posting a 2-1 record with a 1.27 ERA and 0.65 WHIP, compared to 0-3 with a 6.75 ERA and 1.62 WHIP on the road. He also sports a 34:2 K:BB ratio in his 35.1 frames at Yankee Stadium. The Mariners have a .297 OBP vs. left-handers and lead MLB in strikeouts with a 27.6 percent K% vs. southpaws. He and the usually-dependable Yankees bullpen (2nd in ERA) should keep Seattle's bats quiet on Wednesday.
Bryce Miller looks vulnerable tomorrow, as well. He was roughed up in his lone outing against the Yanks last season and hasn't been as dependable on the road (1-2 with a 4.03 ERA) as he has at home (2.37 ERA) in 2024. He has fanned 20 fewer batters in eight fewer innings away from T-Mobile Park, too. The Yankees have one of the best lineups in baseball and slash .263 BA/.343 OBP/.453 SLG/.795 OPS vs. right-handers.
The Bronx Bombers will jump out to an early lead and win game three of the four-game series. At +146 odds, there is great value in a bet on the Yankees to cover the 1.5-run line, which is how I will wager on Wednesday night's game.
