Excerpt from my free game write-up for Saturday's matchup:
Betting Trends: Pittsburgh has an 8-18 RL record as favorites (3-6 as road favorites) and Colorado is 15-13 RL as home underdogs.
At +104 odds, I value a wager on the Rockies to cover the run line on Saturday afternoon at Coors Field. Jared Jones dazzled in his first outing against Colorado, but he won't look as dominant tomorrow. The Rockies slash .261 BA/.324 OBP/.406 SLG/.730 OPS at home and should fare better in their second look at the Pirates' rookie. If they can force him from the game early, they'll have bonus upside against the mediocre Pittsburgh bullpen (4.41 ERA).
Ty Blach shouldn't have to hold Pitt scoreless to keep his team in the game. The southpaw posted a 3.77 ERA and 1.29 WHIP last month and should generate enough swings and misses to keep the Pirates in check, as they strike out in 28.9 percent of their ABs versus left-handers.
