Stephen Nover's Stanley Cup Game of Month
(NHL) Pittsburgh vs. San Jose,
Money Line: 101.00 Pittsburgh (Away)
Result: Win
Pittsburgh and San Jose are close to even, but if this championship series has shown anything it's that the Penguins are the superior team. Pittsburgh is up 3-2, but it easily could be 4-1 in the Penguins' favor.

The Sharks ambushed the Penguins and got a game for the ages by goalie Martin Jones in a 4-2 road win this past Thursday. San Jose took Pittsburgh by surprise scoring three goals on their first five shots. The Penguins regrouped and had nearly a three-to-one ratio of better scoring chances than the Sharks in out-shooting them 46-22. Jones, though, was a monster making 44 saves, including a perfect 31-of-31 during the second and third periods.

The Penguins have the depth, speed and quickness to dominate. Jones isn't superman. The Sharks have a lot of aged players. I don't see them continually fending off the Penguins' attacks.

Pittsburgh is 5-1 in these Stanley Cup playoffs following a loss. The Penguins are 5-0 in these spots when Matt Murray is in net. The Penguins defeated the Sharks in San Jose, 3-1, in Game 4 after they lost Game 3 in overtime. I see a repeat of that happening.
