Dodgers slugger J.D. Martinez is expected to sit out. So could other starters.

The pitching matchup is Tony Gonsolin versus Seth Lugo. The key bullpen arms are rested, including Padres star closer, Josh Hader.

Gonsolin is 5-0 with a 1.25 ERA in seven career appearances against San Diego, including six starts. He has struck out 38 Padres batters in 36 career innings.

Lugo has been solid since returning from the injured list posting a 3.04 ERA in his last eight starts. He has a 3.24 ERA in 16 2/3 career innings versus the Dodgers.

Don't lose sight of the fact this game is at Petco Park, the premier pitching stadium in baseball.
