This is a 10* NL WEST TOM on the UNDER Giants/D-Backs.

For the most part, handicappers are looking at the starting pitching to base their picks, but that's not entirely the case here. This is just a great overall "situational" play, that's backed by strong trends though.

Whoever gets the start for San Fran, I like the UNDER in this one. The Giants have lost four straight and they've seen the total go OVER in three straight after yesterday's 7-5 home loss to New York. But that's significant to note however as San Fran has seen the total go UNDER the number in four of its last five after playing to three or more straight OVERs in a row.

Arizona was 2-2 at the Mets over the weekend, but it saw the total eclipse the posted number in the final three, which is also noteworthy in this case as well, as the D-Backs have seen the total dip below the posted number in eight of their last 12 after playing to three or more straight OVERS in a row.

Ryne Nelson is just 3-4 with a 6.02 ERA for the D-Backs, but he's 1-0 with a 3.10 ERA in four career starts vs. San Fran.

San Fran will be going the bullpen rout, with likely Spencer Howard getting the start; last time out he threw four scoreless frames vs. the Phillies on Tuesday.

Regardless, as stated off the top, the overall situation points to this one staying well UNDER the number once it's all said and done.
