Two old-timers face off against each other on Thursday night and when the smoke clears at the end of this one, I'm expecting to see some offensive fireworks. The Metropolitans trot out Bartolo Colon (9-4, 4.41 ERA) who gave up two runs off six hits while striking out three in a 5-3 win over the Braves on Friday. Colon continues to defy the odds as he's been pretty damn good this year, however if there's been one clear area of weakness, it's definitely been his play in all "night" games, where he's just 3-4 with a ballooned 4.74 ERA. Dickey (2-6, 5.29 ERA) will obviously be motivated here in facing his former team, but he'd most recently give up three earned runs over six innings in a 5-4 victory over the Red Sox on Saturday. The 40 year old knuckleballer is clearly struggling with control issues this year and unfortunately for Dickey, a date at home is not really what the doctor ordered to get untracked as he's just 2-2 with a pedestrian 4.63 ERA in Toronto so far this year (also note that he's also struggled mightily in all "night" games this season, posting a horrible 2-4, 5.47 ERA record). I have zero confidence in either starter and believe that the writing is on the wall and a classic slug-fest is in the cards, watch these two confirmed "gas cans" get chased early and definitely consider a second look at the OVER in this one.
